Since January this year, Google was working on its Phone app or the Dialer app to bring in call recording feature. The first glimpse of this feature was seen later in the same month, confirming that the company is indeed having plans to bring call recording to the Phone app.

However, it was not sure whether this feature would be Pixel specific or will be made available for other OEMs as well. But sometimes back, we have reported that a new beta Google Phone update activated the call recording feature on some Nokia phones in India.

Point to note is that Nokia runs on stock UI, making it easier for the OEM to backport Google features to the devices. But, what about other OEMs. Well, nothing much is clear as of now. What’s clear is that you can now activate the call recording feature on Sony Xperia devices via an Exposed Module.

Noticeably, the Xperia devices that are running on Android 10 will be able to enjoy this call recording feature on the stock dialer application. With the help of this Exposed module, you can set call recording ON/OFF, record incoming/outgoing calls automatically, change the recording format, etc.

Just to recall, Sony has pushed the Android 10 updates for Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ3, Xperia 1 and Xperia 5. Meaning that if you own any of these devices and are running Android 10 firmware, then you can try out this feature, of course, at your own risk, as this is not anything official!

If you think the risk is worth it, then you can follow the steps below to install the Exposed module on your Sony Xperia device:

Requirements:
– Stock Android 10 Fimrware
– Magisk V20+
– Rooted Xperia phone
EdXposed Framework installed

Download:
Stock Call Recording Exposed Module APK

Install:
1. Download and install the latest version of Magisk on your rooted Xperia device.
2. Install and open EdXposed Manager and activate it.
3. Download the APK and install using EdXposed Manager.
4. Reboot
5. Done!

Once you are done with the installation of the APK on your Xperia phone, you can access the call recording module by heading over to your stock dialer app’s Settings>>Calls.

As of now, the only language that is supported by this module is English and the source code will be shared by the developer soon.
