Sony is one of the biggest contributors to Google’s AOSP. This often means the Japanese company subsequently ends up among the first non-Google vendors to push new Android OS updates to eligible devices.
The fact that Sony doesn’t pump a plethora of smartphones into the market every year also makes light work out of the upgrade process.
Still, this isn’t to mean that the task of providing OS updates to devices is easier at Sony. Matter of fact, the company has been providing Android 10 OS updates to its devices for months now.
The most recent rollout was aimed at the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus, likely the final pair of Xperia phones to pick up the official Sony Android 10 update. These two joined a bunch of other devices that had already received the OS from late 2019.
In this article, we take a look at all Xperia smartphones that Sony has upgraded to the stable version of Android 10 OS so far. The list is as follows:
1. Xperia 1 [Released]
2. Xperia 5 [Released]
3. Xperia XZ3 [Released]
4. Xperia XZ2 [Released]
5. Xperia XZ2 Compact [Released]
6. Xperia XZ2 Premium [Released]
7. Xperia 10 [Released]
8. Xperia 10 Plus [Released]
9. Xperia 8 [Released]
It doesn’t look like Sony will be rolling out the official Android 10 update to any other devices in its ranks, not even the most recent Xperia L4 that has Android Pie preinstalled.
But with Android 11 among us, owners of a handful of existing Sony Xperia phones can rest assured that the official upgrade is coming their way. Devices like the new Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II are guaranteed the upgrade to Sony Android 11 update.
