The Redmi Note 9S is perhaps one of the most well-balanced offerings available in the market today within the budget segment. The device has all one could possibly ask for and more.

For starters, it comes with a pretty capable Snapdragon 720G mid-range processor, 48MP AI quad-camera setup, gorgeous LCD display, all encased in a premium-looking body.

Of course, this is all set to be upgraded with the upcoming Redmi Note 10 series, but the fact remains that the Redmi Note 9S is still no slouch.

That said, while the device may be pretty much perfect in almost every aspect, there are a couple of minor issues that have been bothering users for quite a while now.

In the past, we highlighted how the Redmi Note 9S has an extremely poor output through the earpiece during calls. And now, a bunch of reports about microphone problems has come to light.

I am tired of this problem now.. my voice volume goes very less to other person on phone call & sending WhatsApp voice message, even if i speak very loud & close to the mic..

So i recently bought the Redmi Note 9S and i immediately noticed that the microphone audio is very weak. When i record audio, shoot instagram stories etc., even in max volume it was only somewhat audible.

Users say that the mic volume is extremely low so much so that the other end of the line has a hard time understanding. Moreover, the issue isn’t just limited to calls as many have also observed it persisting across recorded voice messages and even videos through the main camera app.

Thankfully, the issue has already been escalated and hence a fix should roll out soon.

Or at least that’s what the moderator’s comment seems to imply. Unfortunately, complaints about microphone issues have been doing rounds since the early days of the Redmi Note 9S, and they were even marked as escalated months ago.

Therefore, if a fix were to arrive, it should have done so long ago. Due to this, many have begun to wonder if the problem is actually hardware-related. But without a proper acknowledgment, it is impossible to know.

For now, users’ best bet would be to wait for the upcoming MIUI 12.5 update that should hit the device sometime during Q2 2021. A fix will hopefully be rolled out along with it.
