Its smart TVs are bundled with a variety of useful features to help them better process sound output. However, some are unhappy due to some audio-related issues due to some buggy firmware updates.

Philips Smart TV latest update broke audio quality

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), Philips smart TV owners are facing an issue where the audio quality has degraded or completely broken.

The issue seems to have popped up after a recent update released by the company for their different smart television models.

One of those affected on the OLED 706 model says that since the update, the audio output on their device sounds like it’s going through a high-pass filter.

Another adds that they are now unable to hear any dialogue or voice, although background sound and music is still audible to them.

On the other hand, another smart TV owner says that they are unable to hear any sound from their device after it automatically updated to the latest firmware. The update has made the smart TVs useless for some.

Update happend today. Popped out for a bit. Switched the TV on, all I get is muffling sound. Philips Customer advisor said they were going to email me some more info. Still waiting. Probably take them few days to sort this mess out.

Hey @Philips your latest update broke the sound on our ambilight tv – I’m not really sure how an update got rolled out that breaks your flagship (we’re definitely not the only ones with this issue) but please fix it asap!!

Some have tried checking for further updates, resetting their TV to factory defaults, and checking multiple sources as well as the built-in apps, but nothing has helped them solve their problem.

Even the company’s customer care representatives could not help resolve some users’ problems. Users are now requesting the developers to resolve this issue soon.

Fortunately, Philips is aware of the issue and their specialists are working on a solution for the same. They have also stated the problem will be fixed soon.
