With the onset of 2018, tumbled in another issue related to Samsung phones. As most of you may know, Samsung ‘voice input’ is a speech-to-text feature available with the on-screen keyboard of Samsung phones. For about a week or so, what’s being reported by Galaxy Note8 and S8 users is that the feature is not available on their devices anymore.
Going by the reports, on tapping the microphone icon on keyboard, Samsung voice input doesn’t pickup up user’s voice. Instead it throws a notification stating Voice input currently unavailable. Try again later.
Also, there are reports that at times voice input works in between, but behaves laggy and continues to state that it’s unavailable.
The glitch is being widely reported, with complaints spread across various online forums, including the official Samsung Community and Reddit. Samsung moderators are suggesting users to switch to ‘Google voice typing’ as a temporary workaround.
Thanks for letting us know about this. There is a pretty easy fix, which is to use Google’s voice typing
Of course, it’s needless to say that people are not happy with the third party workarounds suggested by the experts.
Although there’s no information on what exactly has gone wrong with the feature, we hope Samsung addresses the matter in question sooner than later. Meanwhile, we are keeping an eye on related developments, and will keep updating as and when they occur.
