Samsung’s latest iteration of its customized Android skin, One UI 2.1, has been the talk of the town since it started to backport to the older Galaxy S10 and Note 10 devices. After all, Galaxy users have been sitting tight to experience the latest features that were introduced to the Galaxy S20 lineup.

But things have been topsy-turvy regarding One UI 2.1 making way to Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and S9. While it initially came to light that S9 and Note 9 will get upgraded to One UI 2.1, following that came in contradicting reports raising doubts about it.

However, the latest reports are relieving as they convey the One UI 2.1 update for both Note 9 and S9 is already under development. Meaning, things may take time, but the devices will at least get upgraded. When exactly? Well, that remains to be seen.

Cut to now. Someone with a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 9 device (Exynos) has ported the One UI 2.1 update on their unit and shared their experience through a Reddit post.

The user confirmed they can more or less see all the Galaxy S20 features, Night mode selfie, new apps, better dark mode, improved battery performance, customizing text messages, video recording PRO mode etc. to name a few. SafetyNet is another bonus that the user mentioned.

We’re aware not all prefer to root their devices, and waiting for the officially released OTA is a safe bet, but those who are impatient and interested can go ahead and port One UI 2.1 on their Note 9 device. Please be informed that we’re not sure how stable your experience may be.
