Samsung Music app gets Android 10 & Android Auto support in the latest update

Having missed out on the previous Android P beta program, Samsung was expected to have at least one device in Google’s Android Q beta testing program that kicked off in May 2019 after the I/O event, but the Korean company didn’t participate.

It was kinda surprising to see Samsung miss out on the program for the second year running, but it was even more baffling considering that smaller companies like Tecno Mobile and Realme had devices in the program as well.

At some point, signs of Samsung joining Android Q beta program ahead of the stable release by Google started showing up. An update to Samsung Pay v1.9 came with Android Q compatibility, suggesting that Samsung had begun working on the new OS internally.

A couple or so weeks later, an unofficial Samsung Android 10 roadmap popped up online just after the company had revealed that the Galaxy Wearable app will remain incompatible with Android 10 until Samsung rolls out its own One UI 2.0 update.

Now that the One UI 2.0 beta update is available, everyone wants to know when the stable version will arrive. So far, we’ve bumped into a couple or so indicators that the rollout is around the corner.

For instance, recruitment into the beta program for Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series has ended in Korea. Samsung is also conducting One UI 2.0 beta usability survey (screenshot above) and in a newer development, the company’s Samsung Music app has just gained support for Android 10 in the latest update.

The new Samsung Music update bumps the software version from 16.2.19.5 to 16.2.20.19 and besides the added Android 10 support, it also adds Android Auto support to the music app. Thanks to Android 10 support, the live gradient in light mode now shows in dark mode as well.

The latest Samsung Music update is live in the Play Store and Galaxy Store, but you can also download the APK file from the APK Mirror and install it manually.

With more Samsung apps gaining support for Android 10, the stable update couldn’t be more close enough. It’s only a matter of time before it begins rolling out, probably before this month ends, at least for those using the Galaxy S10 devices.
