The latest entry in Samsung’s smartwatch series, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, have become quite popular lately.

The Wear OS 3.0-based One UI Watch is one of the main reasons why users are going for the Galaxy Watch 4 series.

However, some users are not quite impressed with the latest Galaxy Watch 4 devices when it comes to heart rate monitoring.

As per several recent reports, some users feel that the heart rate sensor on the Galaxy Watch 4 is not working as expected.

Basically, some users are finding some inconsistencies in the tracking data from the heart rate monitor.

It seems the heart rate sensor on the Galaxy Watch 4 series is randomly generating stats and not tracking properly during workouts.

Some of those affected have even compared the Galaxy Watch 4 heart rate sensor stats with other smartwatches like TicWatch Pro 3 and more.

And reports suggest many are not satisfied with the results and strongly feel there is a software issue behind the Galaxy Watch 4 heart rate sensor not tracking properly during workouts.

I think the problem with the GW4 is software/algorithms. The watch is very buggy I think part of the problem is Google actually provide these algorithms, look into the WearOS health services app, new to WearOS 3. There is some interesting info on it.

While some are not facing such issues with their units, others are somewhat convinced that Samsung needs to resolve this issue in future software updates.

I never had an issue with neither this watch nor other optical sensor ones. No spikes at all.

It is only natural for such inconsistencies to occur since heart rate tracking data relies on a bunch of parameters including the skin tone, hair, wrist band tightness, and more.

Samsung has also not made any comments on the matter so it is unclear whether this issue is indeed related to software or not.

Hopefully, the OEM provides some clarity to affected users or better yet fix the problem, if any, in future software updates.

That said, we will be back with more stories related to Galaxy Watch 4 and Wear OS as and when new details emerge.
