Samsung has been doing a remarkable job bringing the Android 11 update to its smartphones while other OEMs struggle to get the update out to more than a couple of devices.
While the company started off releasing Android 11 with its One UI 3.0 skin, it has switched gears and is now rolling out the One UI 3.1 skin directly for some phones and tablets.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 models were the first to pick up the new skin and recently the company began seeding the update to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 variants too.
As expected, the update brings a bunch of new features and improvements as indicated by the exhaustive changelog. However, it seems the changelog is a tad misleading.
Why so? Well, the official changelog shared by Samsung for the One UI 3.1 update based on Android 11 for the Galaxy Tab S6 suggests that the Second Screen feature is now supported on the device.
Under the “Enhanced connectivity with other devices” section, the following information has been listed by Samsung.
Enhanced connectivity with other devices.
• The tablet can be used as an additional display device to a computer.
• Support Buds auto switching between Galaxy phone and tablet (when using a same Samsung account in both devices).
• Support Samsung Internet and Samsung Notes continuity between devices using a same Samsung account.
• Support Copy/Paste of texts and images between devices using a same Samsung account.
• Support inputs from the tablet keyboard by sharing the tablet keyboard case with a smartphone.
This information was spotted by a few Redditors who decided to check out the Second Screen function on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 after the One UI 3.1 update only to find out that the feature is nowhere to be seen.
In its official announcement, Samsung only mentioned that the Second Screen feature will be available to Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy S7+ models with the One UI 3.1 update.
So it seems that the changelog for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 might have been lifted from the update for the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ which explains why it suggests that the Second Screen feature will be enabled.
Samsung has not yet made any official comment regarding the mix-up and neither do we expect to see the company share any further details regarding the confusion.
Of course, it would be great news if Samsung rolled out the Second Screen function to Galaxy Tab S6 users in the future, however, we wouldn’t bet on it.
