Samsung has been providing two major Android updates for just about every smartphone it releases. The company has been following this update cycle for a few years now and we hope it changes soon. That being said, the Samsung Galaxy S8 series and the Galaxy Note 8 have unfortunately been left out from getting Android 10.
These flagship phones released in 2017 and came with Android versions 7.0 and 7.1.1. respectively. Hence automatically making them ineligible for the update. Users even started a petition for Samsung to bring Android 10 to these devices but with no luck.
Fortunately, in the Android world, if you’re willing to tinker around, you can run the latest software on almost any device. For example, Realme 1 users now have a chance to experience Android 10 on their device with Pixel Experience, Experience Plus and LineageOS 17.1.
Luckily Samsung Galaxy S8 series and Galaxy Note 8 users can also get Android 10 thanks to the developer community. What’s even more interesting is that users have two fantastic options to choose from. This is because Android 10 is available with the Pixel Experience Plus and the Havoc-OS ROMs.
The official Havoc-OS stable build is dated 03.07.2020 and the current stable version is 3.7. On the other hand, the Pixel Experience Plus ROM is an unofficial port for the S8 and Note 8. Moreover, you will not have to flash ‘GAPPS’ since they are already included.
With that out of the way, you can download both custom ROMs from the links below.

Both ROMs are fairly stable and most features work as expected. Therefore, Galaxy S8 series and Note 8 users are no longer bound to Android 9 Pie. It’s good to see developers offering extended support for devices that are no longer officially supported.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 series and the Galaxy Note 9 recently picked up the One UI 2.1 update based on Android 10. It’s highly likely that these devices will not be receiving the Android 11 update. In the meantime, you can check out our Samsung Android 10 update tracker to know when the update arrives on your device.
