[Updated] Samsung Galaxy S20+ running Android 11 (One UI 3.0) surfaces on Geekbench

Samsung often takes its own sweet time to bring the latest OS updates to its smartphones. Moreover, unlike OnePlus and a few other vendors, the company has decided not to start its own Android 11 beta program alongside Google before the official release of the stable version.

This means that while users with OnePlus and other supported flagships enjoy early access to Android 11, Samsung flagship owners have no such luck. But that does not mean that the South Korean giant is not conducting internal tests on Android 11.

A new Geekbench test score appears to show the Exynos 990 variant of the Samsung Galaxy S20+ running on Android 11. Here’s a screenshot of the test results for the device from Geekbench:

The Geekbench test result confirms that Samsung is working on the Android 11 update for the S20 series. This ties in with our previous report which suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S20 Android 11 (One UI 3.0) testing has begun thanks to a string of code that was uncovered by a user on Weibo.

Given that the Galaxy S20 devices are the company’s flagships for the year, we do expect to see the Android 11 update being pushed to them along with the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 series first. Following that, the S10 and Note 10 devices from last year should get it.

You can take a look at all the eligible Android 11 devices from Samsung here. Unfortunately, this will be the end of the road for the S9 series and Note 9 since they will not be getting any major OS updates.

The new Android 11 update for Samsung devices is also expected to bring along One UI 3.0 which would bring along new features and improvements over the existing One UI 2.1 skin and the upcoming One UI 2.5 skin.

Samsung’s latest press release suggests that the Galaxy S20 line-up will begin receiving the stable Android 11 update alongside One UI 3.0 later this year. However, the availability of the update may vary based on the region and device carrier. See the full story here.
