New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on August 03, 2020) follows:
In a few weeks’ time, the Google Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a and Pixel 4 will be upgraded to the stable Android 11 update. The OS has been testing for months now, with the public beta having arrived in June.
Soon after, Android 11 beta 1 made its way to a myriad of devices that include and are not limited to OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, Realme X50 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro, and the OPPO Find X2 and Find X2 Pro, among others.
Unfortunately for Samsung device owners, the Korean company seems to be once again avoiding the early developer preview and instead focusing on its in-house tests ahead of opening its One UI 3.0 beta program later this year.
This was the case with Android Q beta testing and we expect nothing different with respect to Android 11. But what looks certain is that Samsung may release the new One UI 3.0 update way earlier than previous versions of Android.
Not long ago, we revealed that Samsung had started testing Android 11 on the Galaxy S20 family and not long after, a certain S20+ popped up on Geekbench with the new OS running the show.
Apparently, yet another unconfirmed report coming from Weibo suggests that UK variants of the Galaxy S20 series are already testing the One UI 3.0 update based on Android 11. There is still no way to verify this info, so we urge our readers to take it with a grain of salt.
The UK version of the S20 series opened the test OneUI 3.0, the national bank is also fast.
Either way, it still is encouraging to see the world’s leading smartphone maker silently joining the Android 11 conversation. But it remains to be seen when Samsung will go public with the One UI 3.0 beta program for the Galaxy S20 series.
If you are still in doubt regarding your device’s eligibility, we have populated a list of Samsung Galaxy devices we think will receive the One UI 3.0 (Android 11) update here. A similar list of devices also exists with respect to the upcoming One UI 2.5 update.
Update 1 (August 18)
Samsung has confirmed that the stable Android 11 update alongside One UI 3.0 will begin rolling out later this year for the Galaxy S20 line-up. The availability of the update will vary based on region and the device carrier. For more details, head here.
