Original story (published on June 10) follows:
Samsung has started rolling out the stable version of its in-house One UI 2.1 update based on Android 10 to the Galaxy Note 9 handsets in Europe, beginning with Germany.
The device has been testing the One UI 2.1 interface for weeks now, but this was limited to the Korean market. Today, the company has now made the software available to the European variant as part of the June 2020 security patch, just as promised.
There are still no reports from actual users of the device confirming the rollout. We now have a screenshot of the update arriving in Germany.
Details of the firmware version that brings the Galaxy Note 9 One UI 2.1 update popped up in Samsung Korea community forum, as seen below.
Apparently, the update that brings One UI 2.1 to the Note 9 has firmware version N960FXXU5ETF5, a jump from version N960FXXS5DTE2 that brought the May 2020 security patch.
The official software update tracker for Germany hasn’t been updated as of this writing. But we expect changes to be made sooner than later. Folks in Korea should reportedly expect the Note 9 to pick up the same update as from next week.
You can always grab the firmware using tools like Frija, SamFrew (screenshot below) or SamMobile and install manually using Odin. Alternatively, just sit back and wait for the OTA update.
After the Galaxy Note 9, next in line are the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. According to recent reports, these two may begin receiving their One UI 2.1 treat next week. We will let you know about it when it arrives.
The trio of 2018 flagship phones is also expected to join the newer Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 series in receiving the One UI 2.5 update, probably after it debuts on the Galaxy Note 20 series later in August.
