[Updated] Samsung Galaxy Note 10 & Galaxy S10 One UI 2.5 update could go live soon as test builds show up

Samsung has come a long way when it comes to providing timely and regular software updates. The South Korean giant recently also confirmed that it will be providing up to 3 OS updates for some of its devices, including some ‘affordable’ offerings from the Galaxy A line-up.

This is a major step up for the company since it previously only offered two major OS updates for all its smartphones. While the company has kick-started the Android 11 beta program for the S20 line-up, the stable update won’t arrive until later this year.

Further, the rollout for Android 11 will take place over several months. Thus, you may have to wait a long time before it arrives on your device depending on the model. Nonetheless, the company is also set to release an iterative upgrade from One UI 2.1 to One UI 2.5 for a few devices.

This new custom skin from Samsung will not bring many major changes but instead will offer some improvements over the existing One UI 2.1 skin. As an example, One UI 2.5 is set to bring support for Android 10 gestures to third-party launchers.

Up until now, we did not have much information as to when we can expect to see Samsung release the One UI 2.5 update. But users in the the company’s home country have begun sharing screenshots (1, 2, 3) of what appear to be test builds for the One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy Note 10 series and the Galaxy S10 series.

As you can see, the test builds appear with the build number DTH4 on the Galaxy S10 models and Note 10 models. The current builds for the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 series have the CTG3 build number in Korea.

Thus, these test builds are of a major OS update, likely One UI 2.5. And since we’re seeing Samsung testing the new firmware, it will be safe to assume that the One UI 2.5 update may be released within the next few weeks. Of course, it may be delayed due to many reasons.

However, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 users shouldn’t have to wait too long to get their hands on with Samsung’s upcoming One UI 2.5 skin. As usual, we will continue to track the situation and will post an update once we get more details surrounding the release on One UI 2.5.

IST: 12:12 pm: Samsung has now started rolling out the latest One UI 2.5 update to the Galaxy S10 series in Germany. The update carries version G973FXXU8DTH7, G975FXXU8DTH7, and G970FXXU8DTH7 for the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e respectively.

IST: 08:12 pm: Earlier today we reported that the Samsung Galaxy S10 series has started receiving the One UI 2.5 update in Germany. In a recent development, we have learned that the update is also live for the Galaxy Note 10 (N970FXXU6DTH7) and Note 10+ (N976BXXU6DTH7) in Germany.

The Note 10+ 5G and Galaxy Note 10 Lite are also receiving the update in Switzerland (N976BXXU6DTH7) and Spain (N770FXXU5CTH4) respectively.

IST: 01:24 pm: Samsung has been busy releasing the One UI 2.5 update for eligible devices in many regions. The South Korean giant has recently also started rolling out the update for the Galaxy Note 10 series. At present, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G is now picking up the update in Germany.

IST: 02:38 pm: According to Samsung executive, unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10 series devices in the US might start receiving the One UI 2.5 update in October. On the other hand, the update has been released for the S10 series in India. See the full story here.

IST 05:28 pm: Samsung has now begun rolling out the One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy Note 10 in Brazil according to user reports. Needless to say, the update may be rolling out for the Galaxy Note 10+ units as well. More details here.
