The concept of smart home is enticing, after all it allows you to monitor and control your home appliances right from your smartphone. But like any other technology-enabled service, it also has its shortcomings. For example, if the app through which you’re controlling appliances stops functioning for some reason, everything comes to a screeching halt.

That’s exactly what has happened with users of Samsung Smart Home who use the app on their Apple devices running the latest OS version (iOS 11.2).

To give you clear picture, it was a couple of weeks back, when an iPhone X user brought the issue into notice on the official Samsung Community. They said the app isn’t working on their iOS 11.2-powered flagship device, as it fails to connect to the Samsung server.

The complainant also confirmed that the app works perfectly fine on iPhones running previous iOS versions (they specifically mentioned iOS 11.1.2 and iPhone 7).

It’s also worth mentioning that when the issue was brought to light by the user, their device was running iOS 11.2 beta. But Apple recently made iOS 11.2 publicly available, meaning what was affecting a limited number of users until a week ago, is now clearly a pretty widespread problem, as almost every eligible Apple device has received the iOS 11.2 update.

It was officially confirmed recently that this is indeed an issue, and the South Korean tech giant is working to fix it. Here’s what a Samsung moderator exactly said:

Regrettably, there is no fix yet but we are aware and working on it

Sadly, there’s currently no information on when the fix will arrive, although we do hope that to happen sooner than later. You can keep a tab here as we are keeping a close watch on the problem, and will be updating all related developments.

Meanwhile, those who posted on the forum thread should look out for a Private Message from the moderator as they are asking for more info related to the problem, presumably for debugging purposes.
