To date, Xiaomi has released the stable Android 10 OS update to more than 20 Mi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones across the planet. The company is also set to bring the new MIUI 12 update to a significant chunk of its global devices.

While it is expected that some MIUI 12 features will be borrowed from Android 11, some of the phones that will receive the former will still be based on Android 10 or even the older Android 9.

The Redmi Y3 MIUI 12 update, for instance, is expected to hit the ground based on Android 10. However, as of this writing, the handset is still running on the older Android Pie, the pre-installed version.

With the phone having launched last April, the Redmi Y3 Android 10 update was never a question of if, but when, you know, just like the previous Redmi Y2 with respect to Android Pie update.

Xiaomi’s Redmi devices receive one major OS upgrade. This is the reason Redmi Y3 owners can rest assured that Android 10 will be pushed to the device at some point. But for now, there is a new Pie-based April security update doing rounds.

Arriving as MIUI version 11.0.9.0.PFFINXM, the update likely has more than just a mere security patch, at least if the OTA file size is anything to go by.
