Original story (from June 25) follows:
All smartphone manufacturers these days, well, apart from Nokia, provide their own customized OS over stock Android. We have ColorOS for Oppo, EMUI for Huawei, One UI for Samsung, and MIUI for Xiaomi, etc. Each of these customized skins offers a unique UI experience to users.
The latest customized OS from Xiaomi aka MIUI 12 has brought some new set of features along with enhancements to the UI. The list of features that have been introduced in MIUI 12 includes the following: Super Wallpapers, Dark Mode 2.0, new animations, better security features, and many more.
MIUI 12 was first announced in China back in April. Soon after the announcement, its beta testing kicked off. Then a month later, Global MIUI 12 version started hitting some devices.
The first set of devices to receive the MIUI 12 update includes the Mi 9, Mi 9T/Redmi K20, and Mi 9T Pro/Redmi K20 Pro. The rest of the eligible devices are expected to receive the MIUI 12 update in phase 2, which is likely to hit in July.
Xiaomi owners who have not received MIUI 12 update on their devices are desperately waiting for its arrival, which is the case with users of the Redmi Note 9S.
Cut to now. Xiaomi has cleared the air regarding the Note 9S MIUI 12 pilot program in the Q&A section of the June update (the patch which has arrived with version number v11.0.9.0.QJWMIXM) announcement. Regarding the MIUI 12 Pilot program for Redmi Note 9S, Xiaomi has stated the following:
Currently there is no Mi Pilot program for this device. Recruitment may be conducted in the future for the same with MIUI 12Source
Let’s hope the MIUI 12 Mi Pilot program begins soon.
FYI we are keeping track of MIUI 12 update for all Xiaomi phones (which you can check by heading here). And it goes without saying, we will be following all the developments regarding the Mi Pilot program for Redmi Note 9S and update you with the new information as and when we get it.
