Xiaomi is expected to roll out the stable MIUI 12 update to the Redmi Note 8 Pro this coming month of July. So far, the software is already available in beta version in various markets, including India.

It is also India where the latest Redmi Note 8 Pro update is now rolling out, but it has nothing to do with the stable MIUI 12 firmware. Instead, it is still based on MIUI 11 with Android 10 as the base OS.

On the brighter side, the update has some interesting stuff on board. For the uninitiated, the Redmi Note 8 Pro has had to deal with Netflix HD streaming issues for ages. Back in 2019, Xiaomi promised to address the issues with the update to Android 10.

But even after the most recent May 2020 security update that added Netflix HD streaming support, it seems the issues didn’t go away. After the latest update, which also bumps the security patch level to the latest June 2020, Xiaomi says all Netflix HD streaming issues should be gone for Redmi Note 8 Pro users.

System
– We are compatible with Netflix HD standards now. Clear Netflix app data if you’re experiencing problems with playback for some videos.
– Updated Android Security Patch to June 2020. Increased system security.

The update, which is available over the air, is carrying firmware version V11.0.4.0.QGGINXM and is pretty heavy, so be sure to connect your device to a stable Wi-Fi network in order to download and install the update.
