Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 has already received the Android 10-based MIUI 12 update in China but the wait is still on for global units.

It was reported earlier that the latest custom skin might start rolling out to the global Redmi Note 8 units by mid-October.

Now, it seems that the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12 update rollout is already under way, at least for the Indian variant.

This new information comes from a conversation between a user and a Xiaomi India support representative which was shared on the MIUI 12 Official Telegram channel.

The support representative has stated that the latest custom skin is out for the Redmi Note 8 but distribution of the update takes time due to a large customer base.

Since there are no user reports to confirm a phased MIUI 12 rollout, this info should be taken with a pinch of salt.

It must be noted that similar information has been shared by a Xiaomi UK support representative for the Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Redmi 9.

However, the MIUI 12 update rollout for the aforementioned devices is supposed to commence from October 20 as per the support representative.

While all the new information is inline with MIUI 12 reaching all remaining Xiaomi devices by October-end, the OEM has not addressed this matter on a wider scale.

An alleged MIUI 12 timeline for the Redmi Note 8 and a bunch of other devices was also doing rounds but no solid information has come out yet.

Nevertheless, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide updates when new information becomes available.
