Xiaomi will begin rolling out MIUI 12 updates to the Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi K20, and Redmi K20 Pro in June 2020. Although eligible for the upgrade, none of these MIUI 12 updates will bring Android 11 to these devices.
Matter of fact, there is a huge list of Xiaomi smartphones that are lining up for updates to MIUI 12 but will remain on Android 10 or some even on Android Pie.
One such phone is the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Although eligible for Android 10, the company hasn’t released the OS so far. A recent Pie-based April security patch suggested that the wait could take even much longer.
But why wait for Android 10 when there is a working Redmi Note 7 Pro Android 11 port out there based on the latest Developer Preview 4? This is the price you pay for getting a developer-friendly Xiaomi smartphone.
Google will unveil Android 11 public beta on June 3. Xiaomi, like last year, is expected to enroll several devices into the program, but the Redmi Note 7 Pro isn’t among them.
After the update to Android 10, the best you can do to get a new OS is installing a custom ROM. Essentially, this is what you are getting with this Redmi Note 7 Pro Android 11 port. Below are the release notes attached to the latest version.
