Xiaomi Redmi 9 was released back in June with Android 10-based MIUI 11 out-of-the-box while it is now in line to get the MIUI 12 update outside China.

The Chinese Redmi 9 variant bagged the MIUI 12 stable update back in July while the wait is still on for global units.

Also, Xiaomi left users of the Chinese Redmi 9 units confused as a MIUI 11-based update started rolling out in mid-August.

However, the MIUI 12 beta stable update was re-released in China by August-end as version 12.0.1.0.QJCCNXM but users of the global units have been waiting for quite some time.

Now, it seems that the wait is about to get over as the global Redmi 9 units might finally start receiving the MIUI 12 update in this month.

The information comes from the General Manager at Xiaomi Indonesia, Alvin Tse, who has stated that there is no ETA as update is still under testing.

He further stated that the Redmi 9 MIUI update should start rolling out to the global units either this month or by November.

It must be noted that the development of MIUI 12 beta update is suspended till October 12 in China due to the National Day 2020 holidays.

While this suspension will affect the overall software development schedule for global Xiaomi devices, the OEM appears to be striving to deliver the software updates in time.

This is simply because the new information about the Redmi 9 suggests that the OEM intends to stick to the global software update schedule.

That said, we will keep tracking the development of Xiaomi Redmi 9 MIUI 12 update and will provide details as and when new information becomes available.
