Xiaomi’s Redmi 8A Dual is probably one of the best affordable smartphones currently available. Although, the device launched with Android 9 Pie running the show which by this point is almost 2 years old.

It’s not surprising though since Xiaomi has been slacking in the software updates department for a while. Nonetheless, even though it might not be the fastest, Xiaomi does provide a couple of major Android updates along with 2 or more MIUI updates for its devices with a few exceptions.

About a week ago, we reported that the Android 10 update for the Redmi 8A Dual was confirmed. Unfortunately, the mod who confirmed the update did not provide us with any ETA.

Cut to now, the device has begun receiving the June security update. But the software is still based on Android 9 Pie and there’s no word on when the expected Android 10 update will be arriving.

The new update version is V11.0.8.0.PCQINXM and it only brings the new security patch and possibly a few improvements under the hood. It is currently being rolled out to users in India.

While Redmi 8A Dual users continue to wait, the Android 10 beta testing for the standard Redmi 8A is already underway. Moreover, it is also expected to receive the MIUI 12 update in August as we reported earlier.

It also appears that Android 10 will be the last major Android update for the Redmi 8A Dual. This is because new information suggests that the Redmi 8A will not get Android 11. Hence, we can expect it to be the same for the device.

Nonetheless, you can check out our Xiaomi Android 10 and MIUI 12 update trackers to know when the updates arrive on your Xiaomi smartphone(s).
