Recently, Google received a lot of bad press about the plethora of bugs plaguing their flagship devices. And now it looks like it is tech giant Samsung’s turn. After some recently uncovered issues, now it has come to light that a recent update has broken auto-correction feature on Samsung’s high-end phones. Not only that, it also appears to have triggered battery drainage issues.
Let’s start off with the auto-correction problem. A lot of Samsung Galaxy users have been chiming – both on Twitter and Samsung Community – that the latest update has goofed up the auto-correct feature. While some report that the feature is not working properly or as intended, for others it has disappeared completely.

This morning, a Samsung moderator on the company’s official help forum acknowledged the issue, saying that a recent update may have done this. Here’s the complete statement:
I spoke with an colleague of mine who’s device pushed the same update and their keyboard app erased all of their personal dictionary and autocorrect too. It may be something that happens after an update and as far as I know, there’s no way to recover words you may have added previously
Sadly, there’s no information on if and when the problem will be fixed.
Moving on, another issue which is being widely reported by users of Samsung’s flagship smartphones – mainly Galaxy S6, S7/S7 Edge, and S8/S8+ owners – is related to excessive battery drainage, that they say is also happening after a recent update.
Here are some tweets from those encountering the aforementioned battery drainage problem (more tweets at the bottom of the story):

A Samsung moderator effectively acknowledged the battery problem on a forum thread discussing Galaxy S8 battery drainage issue. Here’s what they said:
I know there have been some recent problems with battery life. Until we can bust out with an update to help I do encourage running Wifi, Bluetooth, account syncing, and/or GPS only when necessary
Lastly, we also came across some recent reports where users are reporting device reboots and crashes.

Not sure how widespread this reboot/crash problem is, as well as whether or not this behavior was also introduced by the same update that caused the problems we discussed above. Also, there’s no word from Samsung on these reports.
To sum up, the sheer number of complaints does suggest a recent update has indeed broken features and affected battery performance across Samsung flagships. We hope the company will look into the problems, and fix them sooner than later.
For the record, here’s a long list of complains flooding Twitter about battery drainage glitch:
