Realme is on a roll with its new product launches and the rollout of its latest skin over Android 11 dubbed Realme UI 2.0.
Most recently, Realme launched the Realme X7 and the Realme X7 Pro in India where the two 5G-touting smartphones have been well-received.
However, both devices come with Android 10 pre-installed which is a tad disappointing considering that Android 11 has been out in the wild for a while.
Although Realme confirmed that it would begin beta testing Realme UI 2.0 for the two smartphones in the second quarter of the year.
The company has been rolling out the latest Android version to a limited number of users via the Realme UI 2.0 Early Access and Open Beta programs for devices such as the Realme X2 Pro, Realme 7 Pro, and Realme Narzo 20.
Realme UI 2.0 offers a bunch of new features such as a tweaked UI and more Always on Display customization and Edge Lighting options.
And thanks to the AMOLED screens on the Realme X7 and Realme X7 Pro, the two devices support the Always on Display (AOD) and Edge Lighting.
Unfortunately, it seems Realme, with its clever marketing, had left out some crucial details regarding the two customization features.
After receiving their shiny new devices, some Realme X7 and Realme X7 Pro users noticed that there is no option to customize the Always on Display or use the Edge Lighting feature.
as I bought the realme x7 pro I could not see the feature in the display section ,while I try to search it ,I am able to search it under the same category i.e display but when I click it ,it takes me to the page where we can set the colours for edge lighting display and the information about it. but can not enable it under the display section (Source)
The same was also highlighted by an individual on YouTube. And to make matters worse, the company has not made any public statement regarding the missing features.
In fact, when asked about whether the Realme X7 Pro supports the AOD customization feature, Realme India Support on Twitter claimed that it does support it. This can be a tad misleading since the device may support it but the feature is not available yet.
Fortunately, there’s some hope since a Realme “Assistant” on the company’s forums claimed that the Realme X7 will get AOD and Edge Lighting via a software update.
Of course, if this will indeed be the case, it’s likely that the same would be applicable for the Realme X7 Pro.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time Realme fans have been let down with the missing AOD customization options. The features are also missing on the Realme 7 Pro too. More on that here.
