Realme offers some of the best value for money smartphones in all price categories in the regions they are present. Currently, the Realme 6 Pro and the Realme X2 Pro are arguably the best devices in their price range.

The Realme X2 Pro is the high-end offering whereas the Realme 6 Pro is a mid-ranger. Both smartphones are running on Android 10 and come with the Realme UI skin. Although, the Realme X2 Pro released with Android 9 Pie on board.

Speaking of software, the Realme 6 Pro and the Realme X2 Pro recently picked up the June update. It brought a few new features for both smartphones apart from the June 2020 security patch.

But that’s not all. After installing the latest update, users are noticing a major issue regarding battery life on both devices. Several users have taken to Realme’s community forums to report the problem on the Realme X2 Pro ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) and the Realme 6 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10).

The high number of reports leads us to believe that the issue is widespread. It appears that the battery life on both devices has drastically reduced after installing the June update. Most users are claiming that the battery drops rather quickly even when the phone is not in use.

A frustrated user also tried reaching out to the company’s India Support page on Twitter. However, the support team responded with a rather disappointing explanation. Check out the entire response below.

We would like to inform you that even when you will keep the device on standby mode then it also consumes the battery of the device. As there are some features which keep running like a signal, network connection, clock and date & time etc.

Furthermore, there does not seem to be any obvious cause for the sudden drop in battery life. Realme has not yet acknowledged the existence of the issue for either smartphone. Therefore, it’s highly likely that a fix will not arrive within the next few days, possibly even weeks.

It’s worth noting that battery draining issues often pop-up after new updates. However, those issues are not on such a wide scale. Nonetheless, we will be following the matter closely and provide further details if and when they become available.
