Original story (published on February 02, 2021) follows:
The Realme 6 Pro was released last year with a great spec-sheet for its price. It also came with the company’s Realme UI 1.0 skin based on Android 10 out of the box and is in line to get the update to Android 11.
Matter of fact, a limited number of Realme 6 Pro users have already gotten their hands on Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 on top via the Early Access program.
The Early Access program allows the company to test the update with a small group of users to iron out any major bugs and issues ahead of the public beta rollout.
Speaking of which, we recently reported on the Netflix and Prime Video problems that users on the Realme UI 2.0 Early Access program are facing.
However, the Realme UI 2.0 Early Access update isn’t all that bad since it seems that the company has fixed the fingerprint scanner issue that is bothering some Realme 6 Pro users on Android 10.
According to some users, they are facing issues while unlocking the phone with the fingerprint scanner, and at times, aren’t able to tweak the fingerprint settings to add or remove a fingerprint on Realme UI 1.0.
in my realme 6 Pro the side mounted fingerprint scanner is not working I have tried to register a new fingerprint for that but whenever I go in fingerprint settings it makes me back to the home screen (Source)
I have updated my mobile few days ago to RMX2061_11_A.41from there my fingerprint sensor is not working. It says “Fingerprint hardware not available” and after rebooting it does not open the fingerprint menu. (Source)
I have taken realme 6 pro one month ago but after using one month their is issue in fingerprint sensor. 10 out off 9 times sensor cannot work. (Source)
While the company has not yet released a stable update to fix the problem, a moderator has confirmed the fingerprint scanner issue has been fixed with the Realme UI 2.0 beta update.
However, it isn’t immediately clear what “optimization” the mod is referring to in their comment. Adding weight to the claim, some individuals have also confirmed that the issue has indeed been fixed as shown in the screenshot above.
It’s also uncertain whether Realme 6 Pro users would have to wait until the Realme UI 2.0 stable update rolls out for the fingerprint scanner issue to be fixed for all.
As usual, we will keep track of the situation and will post an update once new details emerge regarding the issue.
Update 1 (March 03)
IST 11:23 am: The fingerprint issue seems to be haunting Realme 6 Pro users as recent reports (1,2,3) suggest that fingerprint has gone haywire again. The issue appeared after Android 10-based February security update. Till the time the OEM comes up with a solution, here’s a temporary workaround to save your day.
