Many OEMs like Xiaomi and Realme are still upgrading their devices with Android 10 while also releasing the kernel sources. The Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3 recently got their promised OS update from Xiaomi.

Also, Realme 3i and Realme 3 received the Android 10 update back in April. Now, both Realme and Xiaomi have released the Android 10 kernel sources for the respective devices. The information for the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3  kernel sources came on Twitter.

Realme also released the bootloader unlock tool for the Realme 3 and 3i along with the Android 10 kernel sources. So, if you are into custom ROM, you can now unlock your Realme 3 or Realme 3i by following the guide given below.

Bootloader Unlock

Before going ahead, make sure that your device is charged up to 60% and also take a complete backup of your data. The unlock tools for the Realme 3 and 3i can be downloaded from the links given below. You’ll also need a PC/laptop and a USB cable.

After you have ensured that everything is order, proceed with the steps given below to unlock your device.

Step 1

Install the unlock tool APK that you downloaded earlier on your device and launch it. On the In-depth Test screen, tap on “Start Applying“. Go through the disclaimer once and check the “I have read and agreed to the aforesaid content” box. Finally, tap on “Submit Application“.

You application will be checked by Realme servers and once done, you’ll see the Review successful message. On the same scree, tap on “Start the in-depth test“.

Step 2

If you’ve successfully completed Step 1, you’ll have to proceed with the installation of Fastboot tool on your PC (Mac, Windows, or Linux). Once done, connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.

Follow the below instructions in the Fastboot mode:

– Type the command:
adb reboot bootloader
– Hit “Enter” on the keyboard

– Type the command:
fastboot flashing unlock
– Hit “Enter” on the keyboard

Your device will now show a screen where you’ll have to use the Volume keys to navigate. Once you’re on that screen, highlight the “UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER” option and press the Power button to select it.

You Realme device will now reboot and enter the in-depth test mode. That it! You’ve successfully unlocked the bootloader of your device. You can now get root access to your device, flash custom recoveries, and install custom ROMs among other things.

Now, Realme 3 and Realme 3i have also joined other Realme devices that can be officially unlocked.

Update 1 (August 12)

Xiaomi has now released the Android 10-based kernel source code for the Mi 10 Ultra as well which is the latest flagship from the company. This information was first shared by XDA Developers.
