Original story:
So you must be aware by now that OnePlus has pulled the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update for the OnePlus 6 over screen black-out and device freeze issues (if not, read our detailed coverage here). For those of you wondering about the time frame for next update, you’ll be glad to know this information has been revealed.
The Chinese company has confirmed when the next OnePlus 6 update – containing fixes for major problems introduced by the 5.1.6 update – will arrive. The confirmation came from OnePlus support staff, who clearly said the next update will arrive by the end of next week.
When asked about the update version, they said there is no information on this front. Same was the answer when they were asked about whether or not fix for the OnePlus 6 bootloader vulnerability will be included in the upcoming update.
We know support staff can be ill informed many times, but we can confirm that multiple OnePlus 6 users have received this confirmation from the company. One of them were even told the upcoming update will carry a version of 5.1.8.
While most details are dicey at the moment, what’s good at least the time frame is confirmed, which will surely pacify those who are affected by the issues plaguing the 5.1.6 update as well as those who just can’t wait to get their hands on features like selfie portrait mode.
We hope OnePlus sticks to the plan and the update arrives later next week. Rest assured, we’ll let you know as soon as that happens.
