New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on June 30, 2021) follows:

Apple TV+ made its debut back in November 2019 and quickly gained recognition for offering one of the most quality catalogs of drama series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment.

In fact, Apple claims that the all-original streaming service has received award recognitions faster than any other streaming service in its debut. Makes sense considering that it has received 117 wins and 389 award nominations.

But the journey of Apple TV+ actually begun a couple of months before it was first launched. You see, customers who purchased any new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, or iPod touch starting September 2019, could enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free.

But due to the COVID-19 situation, Apple was kind enough to extend the offer a couple of times for trials that were about to end – the latest being an extension until July 2021 (from January).

Since the service was first made available for free, it is not unsafe to assume that existing Apple TV+ subscribers are still on the promotional package.

However, beginning July 1, Apple will reduce the free trial window from 1 year to just 3 months for anyone who buys Apple products.

If you already cashed on the trial, there’s no more extending of the offer. Also in July, Apple will start billing the first batch that got the free trial offer back in 2019 after having accessed the service for close to 2 years for free.

This, by all means, is Apple TV+’s biggest test since launch.

The big question is whether millions of current Apple TV+ free trial users will sign up for the $5 monthly fee and get an Apple bundle that includes access to Apple TV+.

Or will they simply cancel the service now since most probably already have Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max, Disney+, or others, especially when one considers the fact that the Apple TV+ library is quite small when compared to the competition?

One can almost say that the choice here is between quality and quantity. So what will be your next move when the free trial ends, fellow Apple TV+ subscriber?

You can let us know through the poll above or opine in the comments section at the bottom. As always, the poll results will be out next week.

Update 1 (July 13)

11:00 am (IST): The people have spoken for themselves! Turns out that 75% of subscribers will be canceling their subscription while only 12.5% will be renewing it.
