Coronavirus pandemic has grappled the world & many gaming events have been postponed as a precautionary measure to avoid its further spread. Niantic has also made some changes to the game in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Pokemon Go March Community Day which was scheduled to take place on March 15 was postponed by Niantic. As during Community Day, many Pokemon Go trainers gather at places with high spawn rates to catch the featured Pokemon.
On March 12, Niantic made some changes to the game, which will stay active until further announcement. A one-time purchase bundle of 30 Incense is currently available for 1 PokéCoin. Also, Incense will also last for one hour.
Egg hatch distances have been halved if they are placed into Incubators. Gifts are now dropping more often from Pokestops. Pokemon habitats have been increased and more Pokémon are currently appearing in the wild.
Cut to now, Niantic has announced another Spotlight Hour . It will take place on March 17 from 6 pm to 7 pm in your local time zone. During this hour, there will be an increased number of Pokémon appearing in the wild. However, there is no increase of a specific Pokémon.
Also, a Special Raid Event featuring Cobalion has started in some regions around the world! Prepare to battle the Legendary Cobalion as it makes its way to raids on March 17 at 1 pm PDT (GMT −7).
In addition to this, Niantic recently rolled out a new update for Pokemon Go with version 0.169.0. It has brought a lot of enhancements to the game. Aeroblast has been added as a new move for the upcoming Lugia encounter.
Players will get the chance to encounter Lugia as a GO Battle League reward encounter from Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at 1 pm to Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 1 pm PDT (GMT −7). If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Lugia!
