Pokemon Go crosses 1 billion downloads mark, game's popularity continues to grow

Pokemon Go is one of the best-augmented reality games available in the market. The game was launched back in 2016, and since then it has been one of the most popular mobile games.

Pokemon Go has reached another milestone, as the game has received more than 1 billion-plus downloads. This information has been revealed in a Japanese TV spot commercial for Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go has a huge community base, and it is because of them the game is still running strong even after three years of its release. But credit for this success also goes to Niantic, as they have been regular with game updates and in-game events which kept the players lured to the game.

According to Superdata, a data analysis website, Pokemon Go had an estimated 147 million monthly users as of May 2018. The game still has a long way to go as Niantic always keeps introducing new features and elements to the game.

For example, the recent addition of Shadow Pokemon to the game during the Team Go Rocket event was an absolute hit, so exciting additions like these keep players lured to the game.

Niantic has also introduced a new game to their roster based on the famous Harry Potter franchise. The new augmented reality game is called Harry Potter Wizards Unite. The game requires players to return foundables to the wizarding world.

Players need to cast spells in an encounter with foundables or oddities in the wild which are creating havoc on the overworld map. The game has completed its first month, and its player base is growing steadily.

Speaking of Pokemon Go, the game still has a lot of potential, as currently a lot of Pokemon are remaining to become part of the game. The recent addition of Shadow Pokemon and Purified Pokemon further extends the universe of Pokemon Go game.

Also, Pokemon Gigantamax forms which we have seen in the trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield may also become part of Pokemon Go in future. So, there are endless possibilities for Pokemon Go; it just depends on Niantic how creative they can be with the game.

For a quick refresher, the next Pokemon Go Community Day will feature Ralts, a psychic and fairy type Pokemon. Pokemon Go August Community Day features a lot of bonuses for the game, including the 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance & lures will last for 3 hours.

Pokemon Go Ralts Community Day will go live on August 3 at 4 p.m. and will stay live until 7 p.m. in your local time zone. During the Community Day time, Ralts will spawn more frequently.
