Poco X3 NFC Android 11 update triggering random reboots for some users, but there may be a workaround

The Poco X3 NFC recently bagged the Android 11 update in the European region in the form of a stable beta. If you are unaware, such builds are rolled out to select users prior to a wider release.

This is done to minimize the risk associated with a major update and limit it to a very few users in case anything goes sideways. And unfortunately, things indeed have gone sideways with the Android 11 update for the Poco X3 NFC.

There are several reports [1, 2, 3] doing rounds stating that the Poco X3 NFC reboots/restarts on its own without any apparent reason. This happens even when the phone is sitting idle and perplexed users have taken to forums inquiring about the matter.

Have you guys experienced random reboots? Mine has always happened during idle twice already. My X3 NFC would just reboot randomly while not in use.

All this has turned out to be quite unsurprising though considering how buggy the combination of MIUI 12 and Android 11 is turning out to be. We recently highlighted how a community mod chose to stick to Android 10 until the issues with Android 11 subdue.

Nonetheless, there is a workaround to the problem and all it involves is clearing the storage cache on your Poco X3. Now, MIUI 11 had an option to do so directly but MIUI 12 has seemingly hidden it away from plain sight.

Therefore, to do so, you will have to download the Activity Launcher from this Google Play Store link. Next, search up the word ‘storage’ and head over to Settings > Storage. Upon tapping that, you will be redirected to the old MIUI 11 storage menu from where you can easily clear your cache.

This little workaround may or may not work for you. In case it doesn’t, then your best bet would be to wait for the next update from Xiaomi. After all, given how crucial this rebooting bug is, Xiaomi may roll back the update and release a fix soon.
