New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 17, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi started rolling out the stable MIUI 12 update to the Poco X2 earlier this month after weeks of waiting. The update, unlike the one sent out to Pocophone F1 (Poco F1), arrived as a beta stable version.

This meant that only a handful of Poco X2 owners got the chance to bag the MIUI 12 update at the first asking, leaving a majority waiting for their chance. This chance, as we all know, was to come only after the initial rollout had been given a thumbs up.

Unfortunately, the unexpected happened, forcing Xiaomi to roll back the update. According to the company, the update was pulled due to some bugs and glitches discovered in the initial rollout.

As you can see from the screenshot above, the patched-up version was promised to arrive in a few days time. And indeed, as of this writing, we are seeing multiple reports on Twitter and Telegram suggesting that the rollout has resumed.

For some reason, Xiaomi kept faith with the same MIUI 12 version number that went out to the Poco X2 a week or so ago. The version in question is V12.0.1.0.QGHINXM and in fact, the OTA weighs the same 813MB.

The changelog looks similar to the previous one so it’s hard to tell what exactly has been fixed in the latest rollout. Speaking of, the update is being rolled out in batches, meaning some Poco X2 units will get it ahead of others.

This is for the same reasons the initial MIUI 12 update was pushed in batches – to minimize damage in case of any major bugs. But as it has always been the case around here, we have the download link needed for manual installation so that you don’t have to wait ages to get the new update.

  • Device: Poco X2

For those whose Xiaomi devices are yet to pick the MIUI 12 update, we have a dedicated tracker here that you can keep an eye on to know when the software arrives for your specific phone.
