A few months after the release of Android 11 developer preview, Poco revealed that it would begin testing the new OS on the Poco X2. This announcement was made in early July 2020.

At the time, “soon” was the term used for the release date, but we all know that soon can mean anything from weeks to months as far as software development is concerned.

Well, as it turned out, the latter case prevailed, with Poco X2 users having to wait for months to bag the update to Android 11. This came in late last week.

Less than a week into its rollout, we are coming across plenty of unhappy users on various platforms claiming that the update broke one or two things when compared to the previous MIUI 12 build.

Multiple Poco X2 users have aired their discontent at devs for pushing a supposed stable update that just happens to be anything but stable.

One of the common issues doing rounds is where the phone randomly hangs. This happens when using apps or even when navigating from one section to another.

There are also plenty of talks regarding the poor touch response and broken animations since the update to Android 11. More often than not, the screen feels laggy and fails to record any touch commands.

While it’s nothing unusual for early builds of a major Android OS update to tag along some unwanted bugs, the rate at which affected Poco X2 users are flooding the web is concerning.

Furthermore, the number of issues being mentioned is simply alarming for what is considered a stable update. Besides the bugs mentioned above, we also have cases of poor RAM management and stuttering videos on certain apps.

There are also cases where users have reported issues with navigation gestures, screen freezing, broken file manager, buggy messaging app and so on, all after the update Android 11.

After getting android 11 update in my poco x2 , I am facing the following bugs even after doing a factory reset .

1. Third party launchers like nova is not working with gesture navigation turned on

2. Animations are broken everywhere.
3. Stuttering and lagging everywhere

4. Some apps like file manager, chrome, YouTube, switches to 60 hz instead of 120 hz.

5. The texts in pop up notification goes outside the rounded rectanglular area.

6. New control center is completely unusable with smart devices turned on.

Given that affected Poco X2 users say they did not experience any of these issues prior to Android 11 update, the obvious culprit seems to be the new OS. But no, this has nothing to do with Google.

In fact, it seems Xiaomi might have quietly noticed the many complaints doing rounds on the web regarding the Poco X2 Android 11 update bugs and issues, thus probably halting the rollout.

This is not confirmed, though, but as per a couple or so reports, it seems so. Apparently, they did receive the OTA download notification, but the OS somehow disappeared before they could update.

@IndiaPOCO @POCOGlobal I’m not getting android 11 update on my device (POCO X2). Yesterday I got a notification to update but when click it it gone

Usually, this happens when the firmware is still in limited rollout (which is still the case for the Poco X2) or when an update has been pulled. Hopefully, at least for those yet to install the buggy update, the latter is true.

We will be on the watch out for any new developments regarding this buggy update and bring you the latest as and when it happens. Meanwhile, keep an eye on our Poco Android 11 update tracker.
