[Updated] Poco X2 Android 11 update is coming soon, company confirms

Xiaomi might not be the fastest when it comes to rolling out major Android OS updates, but the Chinese smartphone vendor surely knows how to wow its fan base with some shrewd moves.

As of this writing, a bunch of Xiaomi devices has already been enrolled into the ongoing Android 11 beta testing program. It all started with the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro before the company’s sub-brand, POCO, also confirmed the Poco F2 Pro Android 11 beta update.

Today, POCO by Xiaomi has also revealed some rather interesting details about its next Android 11 target – and it’s none other than the Poco X2. Released this year running Android 10 out of the box, the update to Android 11 will be the first OS upgrade for the Poco X2.

While this is good news for Poco X2 owners, it should be known that the update coming soon to the device will be in beta. Google released Android 11 public beta 1 not long ago, but even so, this version is still buggy and not yet fit for use as a daily driver.

As for the stable release, the wait could go all the way to late 2020. On the other hand, the jump to MIUI 12 is pretty much imminent, especially since the Chinese variant of the device – Redmi K30 4G – has already received the update.

IST 11:05 am: According to a recent announcement, it appears that Xiaomi is gearing up to release the Android 11-based MIUI 12 beta for the Poco X2 amongst a few other Xiaomi phones. Currently, the devices are being tested on Android 11 internally. More details here.
