Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 has created a lot of buzz lately, with many devices having already received it except for the likes of Poco M2 Pro and the standard Poco M2.

The Poco M2 Pro was released back in July with Android 10-based MIUI 11 out-of-the-box and the wait for the MIUI 12 update has been on ever since.

Following its release, the Poco M2 Pro faced criticism due to several privacy-related concerns for which Poco India penned an open letter.

Also, the OEM enabled the unistallation of the apps banned by the Government of India on the Poco M2 Pro while a new build without the banned apps was also promised.

Later in July, the smartphone received the MIUI 11-based June security update but that was about it. There has been no updates pushed to the Poco M2 Pro and users are highly disappointed.

Users have been taking their concerns about the Poco M2 Pro software support to online platforms like Twitter while also demanding the much awaited MIUI 12 update.

It seems that Xiaomi has abandoned Poco in terms of software support as other devices that are awaiting MIUI 12 have been receiving at least monthly security updates.

While it is unclear what is stopping the OEM from providing even the basic software updates to the device in question, owners of the Poco M2 pro are now getting restless and are demanding an explanation.

It is only natural of consumers to expect proper software support from the OEMs especially when all the other devices are receiving the same without any major hiccups.

MIUI 12 is indeed a major update, hence, the delay is understandable. However, it makes no sense as to why a relatively newer device is not being looked after in terms of monthly security updates.

Xiaomi has already completed the second round of its MIUI 12 update rollout schedule and the third round is expected to begin in the near future.

However, the Poco X2 has been the only device to have received the MIUI 12 stable update while Pocophone F1 has also received the beta stable version of the same.

This is highly negligent of both, Poco and Xiaomi, considering how other devices in the catalog are being looked after except the Poco M2 Pro.

That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and provide updates as and when more information becomes available.

Meanwhile, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to know when it arrives on your device. Also, we have a dedicated Xiaomi Android 11 update tracker as the OEM is also working on the latest OS update.
