[Updated: Aug 18] Pocket Casts working to fix slow down issue affecting new episodes coming out, says support

Pocket Casts is among the most popular podcast platforms across the globe. Its app is available for Android and iOS devices with hundreds of thousands of users.

However, Pocket Casts users have been facing an issue lately where new podcast episodes are not updating or showing up in the feed.

As per multiple reports, Pocket Casts is not updating or showing new episodes in its feed on time even though they are available at the source site.

This is inconveniencing Pocket Casts users to the point that they are considering switching to a different podcast platform.

Today Explained had a new episode out but it’s not in PC feed. This is getting very annoying.

Anyone else having issues with new episodes not appearing? My hourly news podcasts stopped at 3 AM ET. None of my other podcasts seem to have picked up new episodes after midnight.

However, affected users may not have to contend with this problem for too long since the issue has been acknowledged.

Pocket Casts support has said that the relevant team is investigating this issue and working to resolve it as soon as possible.

Also, they have shared a blog post which outlines that work on improving the parsing speeds of podcasts is already underway.

Thus, it is possible that an update to the Pocket Casts app might fix this issue in the near future. However, this is still based on speculation since support has not provided any ETA for the fix.

Pocket Casts has been working on improving the parsing speeds for podcasts since late July.

Moreover, some server-side changes were also deployed for this purpose but there have been no improvements so far.

Hopefully, Pocket Casts resolves this issue with the slow down in fetching new podcast episodes soon.

That said, we will report back with more details as and when new information becomes available so stay tuned.

01:25 pm (IST): Pocket Casts now says it has fixed this issue, asking users to be patient as the servers now push out the episodes.

This issue is now resolved, and a firehose of new episodes are coming out instead of the trickle it was when we posted the last update. It will take our servers a bit of time to get them all out but we wanted to keep you up to date.
