The PewDiePie vs T-Series YouTube subscriber battle is showing no signs of slowing down, it appears.
After the recent Chromecast hacking episode (post which the main hacker went underground fearing FBI), it has now come to light that the PewDiePie channel has hit the 80 million milestone, making Felix’s channel the first YouTube channel to do so.
Here’s how many subscribers PewDiePie has as of writing:
Just to give you an idea on how fast PewDiePie is gaining subscribers, the channel crossed the 75 million mark almost a month ago. So this translates into 5 million new subscribers in just one month.
In comparison, where does T-Series stand? Well, when it comes to YouTube subscribers, the Indian music label isn’t far behind. The T Series subscriber count is already over 79 million.
So while PewDiePie has managed to maintain the lead, it will be interesting to see how the battle unfolds.
With videos like Bitch Lasagna, Felix (real person behind PewDiePie) has made it clear he is taking this battle seriously, but T-Series has maintained they are not competing.
In a recent interview with BBC, T-Series MD Bhushan Kumar said they’re not competing with the Swedish YouTuber. Here’s what exactly he said:
I am really not bothered about this race. I don’t even know why PewDiePie is taking this so seriously. He’s getting his people to push him, to promote him. We are not competing with him
However, the war is still raging primarily because of the involvement of fans from both sides. The latest salvo is from CarryMinati, who is one of India’s top YouTubers. His track ‘Bye PewDiePie’ garnered close to 5 million views in less than 24 hours. Watch it here.
While the gap is currently close to 1 million, not long ago, there was a time when the sub difference was hovering around 100,000.
It was popular YouTuber Markiplier, who saved the day for Felix at that time, as he started a live broadcast titled ‘I Literally Won’t Shut Up Until You Subscribe To PewDiePie.’
The stream lasted for close to an hour, and resulted in PewDiePie subscriber count jumping by over 100,000.
We recently highlighted a fan made video which captures the essence of Markiplier’s help to Felix. Do check it out.
