It is now about a month since we saw the official unveiling of Android 11. The race is on for various OEMs who are developing and testing their respective Android 11-based skins and you can check out our dedicated tracker here.
Already, the Google Pixel devices run this new version of Android and recently, we saw OnePlus push out Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to its OnePlus 8 series of devices.
However, we all know that no piece of software is perfect and every firmware is bound to have a few inherent bugs.
We have a dedicated Android 11 bug tracker and you can check that out for more on that. OnePlus is not immune either and we’ve seen a few OxygenOS 11 bugs.
Some of the issues with OxygenOS 11 include Google Assistant launch gesture (swipe from corner) not working, some 3rd-party apps don’t work as expected, a failed Google XTS test among others.
While some of these have since been fixed, a good number of these bugs remain open with promised fixes soon. More on this in our OxygenOS 11 bug tracker.
OnePlus is aware of this situation and is privy to the frustrations that these OxygenOS 11 bugs could be causing users who have updated their OnePlus 8 devices.
With that, OnePlus is offering users who have upgraded their devices to Android 11 a way to roll back their OnePlus 8 devices to a stable build of Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.
To roll back, follow these simple instructions.
– Move the downloaded file to the root folder/Internal Storage in the file manager
– Open Settings -> System -> System Update -> tap the settings cog on top right corner
– Local upgrade -> click the downloaded file to initiate the installation -> reboot
Before taking on this procedure, please take a full backup of your device as this will completely wipe your OnePlus 8.
Below are the provided zip files for the downgrade process. For the OnePlus 8, here are the files for North America, India, and European Union.
- Device: OnePlus 8
- Channel: Global Stable
- Android: 10
For OnePlus 8 Pro users, below are the rollback download links for users in North America, India, and EU.
- Device: OnePlus 8 Pro
- Channel: Global Stable
- Android: 10
It is impressive that OnePlus was able to roll out OxygenOS 11 a month after the official unveiling of Android 11. We can only hope that these Android 11 bugs and issues get ironed out as soon as possible.
