Although Oppo was pretty late to join the Android 10 update party, it surely had some exciting things in the backyard for its users. And along with the Reno 4 5G series phones, Oppo has also unveiled the ColorOS 7.2 UI.
ColorOS 7.2 mainly beefs up the camera performance of the Oppo phones, especially the Oppo Reno 4 5G series alongside which it has been launched.
And talking about the key highlights, ColorOS 7.2 brings Moonlight Night View Video Algorithm, new Soloop Video Editor, updated Super Power Saving Mode with 3 Stage, AI App Pre-launch, Intelligent Album, OPPO LAB and ColorOS 7.2 Open Camera SDK.
Let us take a look at the features one by one:
Moonlight Night View Video Algorithm
For the first time, Oppo is introducing a self-developed video algorithm with the Oppo Reno 4 5G series, which mainly aims at providing better quality videos at low light or night settings.
If we go by the official numbers, the Moonlight Night View Algorithm in the ColorOS 7.2 ups 74.4% more brightness, 33.7% more clarity, and more light in low light conditions in order to drastically improve night video footage.
New Soloop Video Editor
Soloop video editor is not a new thing for the users of the ColorOS. But the new ColorOS 7.2 adds some extra and cool new video filers to make the footage more cinematic and expressive feel.
The new Soloop video editor now suggests your music as per the video, intelligent scene recognition, and also improves the efficiency of the video soundtrack.
Updated Super Power Saving Mode with 3 Stage
Large battery and VOOC Super Flash Charge has been one deadly combo which more of the Oppo devices are now coming up with. Inline to enhance the features, ColorOS 7.2 introduces a “Super Power Saving Mode.”
As stated officially, the Super Power Saving Mode intelligently adjusts certain features like backlight, CPU tuning, and turns on a more stringent power-saving mode to preserve more battery. Approx. power consumption can be reduced by 40% by using the Smart 5G, extreme night standby, and smart backlight
Moreover, as per official data from TÜV Rheinland, once activated, the Super Power Saving Mode reduces power consumption by 5% and supports WeChat text chatting for up to 90 minutes.
AI App Pre-launch
ColorOS 7.2 brings a new feature called “AI App Pre-Launch” which automatically learns all your daily habits to control power consumption. Pre-starting can be used to lower the opening speed of certain apps thereby reducing lag.
Intelligent Album
This new Intelligent Album feature introduced in the ColorOS 7.2, intelligently identifies (using AI) scenes and people in the videos to group them in one place.
You can also make a one-click video search and is connected to the Soloop video editor, so you can head over and edit directly from the album itself.
Oppo Lab
ColorOS 7.2 also adds Oppo’s user co-creation community which shared new features and services promptly via this Oppo Lab. Currently, Oppo has introduced features like AI repair, icon sink, and more.
The AI Repair features for that matter help you to automatically repair your old photos without needing your to download any third-party app.
ColorOS 7.2 Open Camera SDK
And finally, ColorOS 7.2 has now opened the Camera SDK, which means that you can now try out the third-party camera apps like GCam and use video stabilization, video HDR, Super Wide-Angle function; Super Wide-Angle, and other functions of the ColorOS 7.2 camera app.
As evident, ColorOS 7.2 has been introduced in China and we can expect Oppo to push this iteration of ColorOS update which is based on Android 10 in the near future for the eligible devices.

Oppo has not been able to provide an ETA for the release of ColorOS 7.2 on any of its smartphones. Thus, it seems that the wait for the ColorOS 7.2 update will continue indefinitely until the company shares more details. See the full story here.
