Android 11 has been official for almost a month now. As expected, Google’s own devices have already received this update. The developer community is also coming through for users in spades with custom ROMs that are as good as stable.
Not to be left behind, various OEMs are hard at work, building and testing their respective custom skins on top of Android 11. We have a dedicated Android 11 tracker and you can check it out here for more.
Oppo isn’t slacking either. The company is working on its custom Android 11 skin, ColorOS 11. We’ve seen a few features that are expected to come with this build.
These include features like the teased, newly updated Quantum Animation Engine 2.0 and more. Here’s a detailed first look at what’s coming.
However, as is the case with many skins, not all these features will come to all devices eligible for an update to ColorOS 11.
Oftentimes, this situation is brought about by factors such as the hardware requirements or limitations, device performance, local regulation among others.
Today, thanks to the recently-updated ColorOS 11 webpage on Oppo’s website, we get a glimpse of some features that Oppo says will be available to eligible devices later on.
See, ColorOS 11 is expected to bring a new level of customization to the Always-On Display feature. However, Always-On Display is only available on AMOLED displays. This means that only models equipped with AMOLED panels will get this feature with ColorOS 11.
Another feature of ColorOS 11 that is bound to be rather limited is the Artist Wallpaper Project. As mentioned below, this feature won’t be available in multiple regions and carriers. At the time of writing, it is unclear why this is the case.
Artist Wallpaper Project is not available in the EU, Russia, Kazakhstan, or Mexico, and is also not supported on the devices of certain carriers.

Google’s take on Apple’s AirDrop, Nearby Share, has garnered a lot of praise from various circles due to its ease of use. However, this feature is only supported on devices with Android 11 or above.
Oppo further plans to bring FlexDrop and Private System to ColorOS 11 devices in incremental updates in October and November 2020 respectively.
FlexDrop will be available on ColorOS 11 in October 2020 at the earliest. Private System will be available on ColorOS 11 in November 2020 at the earliest.
