Arguably, one of the best custom UIs that you can have on a smartphone, is the OxygenOS by OnePlus. It provides a close to stock Android experience with subtle customization options to give the users more freedom to tweak the UI, as per their convenience.
Over a period of time, OnePlus has brought in various new features and have been constantly trying to improve the OxygenOS user experience.
We all know that the OnePlus community is one of the most active user communities, and the OEM also has a tremendous track record in listening to the needs of its users, community members as they are called.
In line with bringing better user experience, OnePlus started the Ideas Campaign, which takes into account the ideas and suggestions from the fellow community member and OnePlus device owners, to implement some of those feasible ideas in future updates.
Taking about ideas, one of the users pitched an idea that, while setting up the phone, users should be able to choose which stock apps they want to install.
Just to make things clear, this idea was not adopted. And as per OnePlus, the reason behind it is that all the users expect certain basics applications like a clock, calculator, etc. to come pre-installed.
And justifying the installation of third-party apps like Netflix and Facebook “are introduced after several rounds of testing” and are added to provide enhanced HDR playback and high battery efficiency.
But, OnePlus users have ruled out the explanation and they completely disagree with what OnePlus has stated. Going by several user comments, this justification of the addition of third-party apps simply defeats the purpose of providing bloatware-free user experience.
Users have also pointed out the fact, that since these apps are available to download via the Google Play Store, there is simply no need to include these apps, out of the box.

Truth is OnePlus gets paid money by Netflix and Facebook to have their apps pre-installed
This is correct. If anything, facebook and fb messenger have a negative effect on battery life since they data mine the hell out of your phone.
People have been saying this for a while but I think now we can all finally agree that Oneplus settled and they’re just another flagship company now.
Well going by the user comments, the installation of the third-party apps does not seem to achieve what the company has justified about them.
Let us know what are your thoughts about this explanation given by OnePlus in justifying the installation of the third-party apps and whether you would like to have a say in choosing the apps you want to install while setting up or not?
