OnePlus 8T was the first device from the company to come with its new and controversial Android 11-based custom Android skin, OxygenOS 11 out of the box.
The device has since been dogged by various bugs and issues, presumably owing to just how new and drastically different this new skin is compared to previous iterations.
While OnePlus is hard at work, trying to iron out issues on this device and other OxygenOS 11-running devices, new issues continue to crop up every now and then.
Today, it is coming to light that OnePlus 8T users are facing yet another issue with their devices, this time a missing feature that’s popular with other OnePlus devices.
According to users, the OnePlus 8T is missing the Speak caller ID feature, a feature that is present on devices such as the OnePlus 7T.
Below is a side-by-side view of the Speak caller ID option present on OnePlus 7T and the same is missing on the OnePlus 8T under the Earphone Mode settings.
Reports indicate that the feature is still missing from OxygenOS 11.0.5.6 on the OnePlus 8T (1,2,3,4), much to the dismay of users that depend on this feature.
Some other reports (1,2,3,4,5) suggest that this is the situation for users of the OnePlus Nord as well. This suggests that OnePlus Nord too had this issue in the recent past.
Hey Developer, we OnePlus NORD users want “Speak Caller ID” feature in earphone mode. other OnePlus device has this feature which is cool . so in next update we want Speak Caller ID feature in earphone mode as other OnePlus phone has this feature. and we NORD users also belong to same OnePlus Community.

However, many of these reports are a few months old and there aren’t any new reports which could suggest that the feature has since been enabled on the Nord.
A staff member acknowledged this issue back in November, noting that the developers were already notified and that affected users should look forward to a future update for a fix.

Another issue that’s been reportedly afflicting users of the OnePlus 8T has to do with the device’s camera. To recall, we’ve looked at a few camera issues surrounding the OnePlus 8T.
According to affected users, the front-facing camera of the OnePlus 8T tends to have a yellowish tint to photos, a sharp contrast from what the main camera shoots.
When I am taking photos from camera the photo is automatically changing in different colour as shown below. The photo is becoming yellowish.

This issue is very similar to an issue we’ve highlighted previously surrounding the OnePlus 8T’s main camera when in Nightscape mode. More on that here.
In response to this user complaint, a OnePlus staff member notes that the issue has been forwarded to the developer team for further investigation and a fix could be coming in future updates.

It is really refreshing to see OnePlus coming forward to engage with affected users on issues afflicting them, and going as far as assuring them of fixes in coming builds.
Other OEMs might want to borrow a leaf from this practice as it all adds up to a more satisfied userbase in the long run.
OnePlus Nord users, do you have the Speak Caller ID feature enabled on your devices? Please tell us in the comments section below.
