The OnePlus 8T is an awesome device that offers so much value for money compared to the competition. It packs the very latest internals, all at a fraction of the price of comparable devices.

One of the highlighting features of this device is the 120Hz screen refresh rate. Of course, this has its benefits for tasks such as gaming but you know where this shines even more? Using social media apps.

Having a refresh rate this high ensures smooth scrolling through all the social media platforms, effectively adding to a wholesome smartphone experience for users.

Unfortunately, and as has been the case for the OnePlus 8T for the few months it’s been in the market, there seems to be an issue with Instagram on the device.

According to a section of users, Instagram Reels on the OnePlus 8T suffers from an annoying issue where the content appears cut off and stretched out compared to other devices.

An example is shared by a user on the OnePlus community forum showing a screenshot above from another Android device and the one below of the same content on OnePlus 8T.

From the images shared, it is evident that OnePlus 8T tends to punch into the content a little more, thereby cutting off part of the content.

While playing my posted videos on reels (Instagram) the content is cut off and stretched out while showing in OnePlus 8T due to large display size.

This has been attributed to the OnePlus 8T’s display dimensions, some users feeling like it tends to crop off content in a bid to take advantage of the entire canvas.

This has since been reported to OnePlus and in response to one of these user complaints, a OnePlus staff member goes to acknowledge the issue, noting that the information has been passed to the relevant team for appropriate action.

It remains unclear when this issue is likely to be addressed or whether this is a OnePlus issue or an Instagram optimization issue as this wasn’t made clear by the staff member.
