OnePlus 8T remains a pretty solid device for anyone in the market for a decent Android experience but isn’t looking to spend ‘flagship’ money while at it.
The device was the first from OnePlus to run the company’s Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 out of the box but that hasn’t been a smooth ride.
We’ve been compiling a list of OxygenOS 11 bugs and issues as well as issues reported by users of the OnePlus 8T in our respective trackers here and here.
This notwithstanding, OnePlus has been pretty forthcoming with its position on these reported issues, promising to fix many of them in upcoming updates.
Recently, we highlighted an issue where users of various OnePlus devices have been facing issues with weird screen color shifting and tinting when using various apps.
Well, it is now coming to light that the issue still persists and now, users of the OnePlus 8T are reporting the same issue with the device’s Google Discover feature and other webpages.
Affected users note that this Google Discover display issue is sometimes resolved on their OnePlus 8T devices by simply refreshing the affected page. To recall, we already highlighted a temporary workaround for this issue in this post.
Well, luckily, there could be a permanent solution in the works. This, at least according to a OnePlus staff member in response to one of these user complaints.
In his response, the staff member is quoted saying:
Thanks for the logs. I’ve passed on the information to the relevant team and will get back to you in case of any further updates.

The same OnePlus staff member also acknowledged an issue that users have been reporting surrounding the OnePlus 8T’s Gboard app.
According to a section of users, the OnePlus 8T’s Gboard experiences an input lag that results in a less-than-pleasant typing experience on the device compared to more affordable options.
Hello ,
The typing speed on Gboard is so slow relative to other cheap devices. This is the first time I carry a oneplus but the gboard application and the typing speed on my older cheap Samsung device feels much responsive and the typing feels much better. I feel the lag in the gboard when typing especially when the Sound on the keypress option is on.

The OnePlus staff member goes to notify the affected user that the info will be forwarded to the relevant teams for their appropriate action.
Thanks for the detailed information. We’ll certainly pass on the information to the right team to get this sorted soon.

With this, the wait is on to see just how soon OnePlus will be able to roll out bug fix updates to these devices. We shall continue to keep an eye on this story and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned.
