This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (from May 14) follows:
The green-tint and black crush display issue on the OnePlus 8 Pro is not a new thing, and we have reported several reports related to it, in the recent past.
We have reported the display issue on the OnePlus 8 Pro back in April-end, which was termed by OnePlus to be a hardware issue and offered replacement/repair/refund as three options for the affected users.
Users who shelled out nearly $1000 for the device were promised a bugfix OTA, but the last update did not address the issue and there were several user reports, claiming that the green-tint and black crush problem has not been fixed on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
Cut to now, a new update is rolling for the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8, that brings various optimizations and stability improvements for the devices. Notably, the update also bumps the security patch level to April 2020, as well.
The update is arriving with OxygenOS version 10.5.8 for the OnePlus 8 Pro and OxygenOS version 10.5.6 for the OnePlus 8. As far as the changes are concerned, it visibly states “Optimized touch and interaction experience” which we suppose is meant for fixing the display issue on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
Here is what the complete changelog of the OxygenOS 10.5.8 and 10.5.6 update for the OnePlus 8 Pro and 8, respectively, reads:

However, going by several user reports, there is a mixed response to this update, where some say that the update fixes the green-tint or black crush issue for them. Here are some of the positive reports:
While there are several users for which the issue is still existing (image below), but for some, the update has triggered a new RED tint issue as seen from the comments on the Reddit post.
So, if we go by the majority, the update does seem to have fixed the display issue on the OnePlus 8 Pro, but the problem is yet to addressed completely as it is still prevalent for other users.
It has been two updates since the green-tint and black crush issue came to light and OnePlus has still not been able to fix the issue completely, which is weird considering OnePlus is a reputed brand. We will keep you posted if there are some further developments in this regard.
