OnePlus 8 & 8 Pro May update adds H.265 HEVC codec, auto ultra-wide-angle lens, keyword whitelist option & more (Download link)

OnePlus has been pretty steadfast in pushing out regular updates to many of its devices. We have seen a couple of Beta builds for the OnePlus 7 devices and many more monthly patches for its other devices.

Today, OnePlus is rolling out the May 2020 Android security patch to the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro devices. This update, besides bumping up the security patch level, also packs a bunch of new features and improvements fro these two devices.

So what exactly does this update bring to the table for the OnePlus 8? Well, some of the highlights of this build, the OnePlus 8 Oxygen OS 10.5.8 include the addition of support for H.265 HEVC codec and keyword whitelist among many other options and enhancements.

-Optimized the expanded screenshot user experience for some scenes
-Optimized the power consumption performance of the system, the battery life extended to be longer than ever

– Added the “Delete” button in the notification bar of incoming messages

– Optimized the click animation for the camera shutter, boosting the smoothness of the photo-taking experience
– Improved the shooting experience with the camera and improved stability

Network
– Improved the stability of communication
– Improved the performance and stability of Wi-Fi transfers
– Optimized network latency for online games and improved the smoothness

Game Space
– Added Epic Games in Game Space. With one-step installation, check out Fortnite and many other Epic Games, all from Game Space
