Compared to OnePlus 6T, its successor the OnePlus 7T was for sure an upgrade in terms of the phone’s display and size, battery life, and performance.
Recently, some of the carrier-locked variants of this phone have got the OxygenOS 12 update that also introduced Android 12. However, users are disappointed with the update due to some of the bugs it has introduced.
OnePlus 7T update broke dual-SIM functionality for a section of users
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple users are experiencing issues when using Dual-SIM functionality after the update to OxygenOS 12.
It is alleged that the phone cannot detect or read both SIMs together. The issue has been persistent for the past few weeks and remains unresolved until now.
This isn’t the best development for those who purchased the 7T specifically for its dual-SIM capabilities.
While it’s possible to receive calls even on the secondary SIM, reports allege that proper communication is still an issue. But surprisingly, the phone does not show info of the second SIM in the status.
Since the update it cannot detect the SIM card (T-Mobile, USA). Of course this means I cannot receive confirmation codes to log into my work today.

Users have tried rebooting their smartphones, swapping SIM slots, and factory resetting but with no success. Some are now even thinking of installing custom ROMs such as Pixel Experience (Android 13), or LineageOS 20 on their phones.
Potential workaround
Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that may help solve your problem. You can try rolling back to the stable OxygenOS 11 release, but keep in mind downgrading to an older OS version will wipe your phone’s data.
So, it is advised that you take a backup of your important data beforehand.
Alternatively, you can try swapping SIM slots or make use of a single SIM on your mobile device until the issue gets resolved.
We do hope that OnePlus will fix the persistent bug soon.
