[Updated] OnePlus 7 & OnePlus 7 Pro double-tap to wake issue after OxygenOS 10.3.3 update comes to light

OnePlus released a new OxygenOS 10.3.3 update to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro last month. The update came with a bunch of new additions, bug fixes, and performance optimizations for owners of the devices.

The update added Dolby Atmos integration with OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z, optimized the volume adjustment, improved battery life, improved the security patch level to May 2020, added tens stain detection, and Epic Games in Game Space for those in India.

However, the is no perfect software update and it appears the OxyenOS 10.3.3 update had some hidden bugs that are now coming to light. Apparently, the double-tap to wake and lift to wake features no longer work perfectly after this update.

In addition to the screenshot above, many other similar reports have popped up in the official OnePlus community forums and Twitter (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), suggesting that this issue is widespread and indeed triggered by the most recent OxygenOS 10.3.3 update.

Double tap to wake not working properly on my Oneplus 7 after recent update … Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t I don’t know whats the problem , didn’t face any such problem before this update…. Anyone facing similar problem?

Recently I have updated my OS to latest version as recommended in suggestions. After doing that I started facing issue while unlocking my device OnePlus 7 and it won’t get unlocked even after double tapping the screen.

Given that reports about this issue have been doing rounds since early June, OnePlus must have been working on it all along. This should be a reason to be optimistic, but there is still no word on when a fix to address the double-tap to wake bug will be made available for affected units.
