New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on May 29, 2020) follows:
OnePlus has been good at constantly communicating with its users about new OxygenOS features, issues, and improvements.
With its Monthly FAQ session, OnePlus delves into the matters that concern a lot of users and even addresses some of them.
The case is same with the May 2021 FAQ session where OnePlus has shed some light on existing issues, new features, and more.
Among them, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series heating issue, call notification delay issue, OnePlus Launcher and Gallery issues, Bitmoji AOD, and much more.
So, let’s take a look at wht the OEM has said about the aforementioned topics in the May 2021 FAQ.
For the OnePlus 7 and 7T series heating issue, the OEM has said that such issues can occur due to multiple factors.
However, the development team is continuously working to optimize and improve the user experience through software updates.
So, those affected by the said heating issue should update their device with the latest May OxygenOS 11 update.
Also, the incoming call notification delay is also being looked into and will be fixed in the upcoming OTAs.
Those who wish to customize the AOD text can do so by heading over to the Ambient Display section under the Display settings. However, the said feature is not available to be used with the Insight AOD due to space limitations.
The issues related to OnePlus Launcher including the OnePlus 9R icon name spacing and launcher unresponsive are now fixed in the OnePlus Launcher update version 5.1.5. Affected users can grab the same from the Play Store.
Apart from that, the OnePlus Gallery app has also been optimized for the issue where WhatsApp images did not appear in it. The Gallery update version 4.0.180 with the said fix is now available on the Play Store.
On the other hand, the OEM has said that the Bitmoji AOD feature is still under testing for the OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 8T. They are working to bring the same to more devices via the stable OxygenOS version as soon as it becomes stable enough.
While it is good to see that OnePlus is constantly communicating with users, it is unclear how serious the OEM is towards its software quality.
Update 1 (June 11)
IST 07:35 pm: The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series devices might get the Canvas and Insight AOD features soon as the OEM was seeking feedback regarding the same in its latest Stable OxygenOS 11 survey.
However, the sections for the said features were later removed from the survey as the devices in question currently do not support the Canvas and Insight AOD features on the stable channel.
